ALC Unlimited is a small business selling crafts and supplies at local shows and on the Internet. We are based in Carroll County, MD, although we like to visit Gettysburg. Our artistic director is Amy Conaway. She has tried various types of crafts and is especially interested in handmade techniques. Her artwork portfolio includes crochet, spinning, weaving, Ukrainian eggs / pysanky, watercolor paintings, painted garden items, and window quilts.
ALC Unlimited eggs are real chicken eggs that are batik-dyed by using hot wax to cover areas before switching to the next color of dye. The eggs are then varnished and a finding is glued on to turn the egg into a hanging ornament. Eggs can be decorated as a unique gift for any occasion: Easter, Christmas, birthday, wedding, anniversary... The possibilities are unlimited!
We carry many supplies for fellow artists in our online shop. You can find kits, books, fabric, floss, and more for creating all kinds of needlework: cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, blackwork, hardanger, Swedish huck weaving, and more. Look for ALC Original Huck Weaving Towels and kits to make them yourself!
What is an ALC Original?
Look for the little butterfly to know it's an ALC Original! The butterfly from our logo appears on all handmade items we produce. It may look a little different in dye on an eggshell, in paint on a pot, or on thread on a towel, but take a look. If you have an ALC Original, there's a little butterfly on it somewhere!

Go Green!
We understand the value of leaving handmade heirlooms for future generations, so we support sustainable living. We use recycled mailers and reuse shipping boxes. Did you know it takes plastic 1,000 years to decompose, and in the process it releases toxic chemicals? In the spring of 2008, ALC Unlimited switched from bubble envelopes to more environmentally friendly fiber padded envelopes. These offer more shipping stability, and they are recycled.

Why should I pay for something handmade when I can get it cheaper at the big store?
For hundreds of years, people used handmade items in their daily lives, and they still do in remote parts of the world. A handmade object has personality. That's why we offer craft supplies that empower you to express your creativity and unique individuality. Each handmade project is slightly different and unique in it's own way. It contains the thoughts, emotions, and energy that the person working on it had at that moment. Because of this individual attention, a handmade object is personal and loving.
We believe that our handcrafted items carry our love into their new homes and can help create a happier atmosphere.
